The shift boot is an improved version of the OEM part. The rubber is thicker and of high quality for longevity!
Torn rubber shift boots allow fumes and extra noise into the interior. If you have noticed a noise increase in your mx-5 interior it probably is time to change one or both of the factory boots. The large boot sits on top of the transmission tunnel under de gearlever gaiter, and the smaller shift boot is situated on top of the gearbox gearlever.
Should be inspected every 50.000 km.
