This valve transports unburned gasoline back into the intake for anew combustion cycle (piston seal is never 100% sealed).
When this valve is defective the pressure in other components of the engine often is not correct and will deviate from normal. The matching rubber grommet/seal should be renewed with the valve. You can find the seal here.
