Team I.L. Motorsport at opening races of the Ribank Mazda MaX5 Cup 2012

After a winter full of activities the I.L. Motorsport Racing team has grown to 4 cars competing in the Ribank Mazda MaX5 cup. The team not only has 4 cars, but also 4 different nationalities behind the wheel. Car 27: Jakub Szczepanik (Pol) and Michael Pohl (D) Car 37: Chris Woodger (UK) Car 47: Sven Lüttgens (D) Car 57: Rudy Schlders (NL) Sunday 15 april marked the opening round of the MaX5 cup at Circuitpark Zandvoort in The Netherlands. Already in the free practise the I.L. Motorsport team clearly showed it's intentions by claiming 1st, 2nd and 6th. Jakub could not get out on track due to a forgotten part of the seatbelt, luckily this was fixed just before the qualifying session. Rudy Schilders claimed pole position for the team with a 2:08.354. Sven Lüttgens finished 4th, Chris Woodger 6th, but the most remarkable performance was set by Jakub claiming 8th on the grid with no previous experience on the technical track of Zandvoort. Race 1 was, as usual in the cup, a very close battle for the lead. A group of 5 cars were never further apart then 3 seconds. The result was 2nd for Rudy, 4th for Sven, 5th for Chris and 6th for Jakub. Race 2 was almost a copy of race 1, except that Jakub unfortunately had a failing rear differential causing him to spin into the S curve. The I.L. Motorsport team crossed the finish line in 2nd (Rudy), 3rd (Sven), 5th (Chris) and 12th (Jakub). In the final results of the day all I.L. Motorsport cars ended up in the top 8: 1st Eric Sliphorst 2nd Rudy Schilders 3rd Sven Lüttgens 4th David Koh 5th Chris Woodger 6th Richard Ipey 7th Pacal van Vugt 8th Jakub Szczepanik A very succesfull first round for the team.
