At our facilities in Cologne Germany we are currently developping a very nice upgrade for our turbokit (NA1-2017) for 1.6l NA engines without having to modify the boost pressure. Because we do not want to add more thermal stress to the engine, this is the way to go for upgrades. We focused on the inlet manifold, that was constructed for a piston engine. The turbo plenum is a two chamber inlet manifold with 4 individual 45mm throttle bodies. In cooperation with the Jenvy company we will test torque- and power increases on our own dyno tuner on our own turbokit equipped test cars. The advantages with this 2 chamber system would be a more even filling of the cylinders under boost. On the pictures you can see the evolution of the inlet manifolds on the mx-5. The differences are most noticable on the 1.8l BP engine. On this manifold the development started with a conventional manifold then changing to a VICS system and ending with a VTSC system. We hope to be able to keep on innovating with this turbo plenum.
