MX-5 headlight relay

Relay for the main headlights of the Mazda MX-5 MK1.

This 30 A normally closed relay controls the power supply to the main headlights. It is activated when the lights are switched on and switches the load current required for the headlights.

Typical symptoms of a faulty relay
A faulty headlamp relay can result in the pop-up headlamps extending, but the headlamp bulbs themselves failing to work or failing to work reliably.

Note
Please check the part number of the existing relay before ordering. Depending on the year of manufacture, market and vehicle specification, different relays or versions may be fitted.

The relay should not be confused with the control unit for the pop-up mechanism of the ‘sleeping eyes’. The raising and lowering of the pop-up headlights is controlled by separate components.
